“When we talk to students and farmers in Denmark about the green transition, most agree that they – and the entire agricultural sector – plays a crucial and important role. But when asked how they can act more climate-smart, many become less clear. We need to give students and farmers specific skills to work in a climate-smart way and give the entire sector a more proactive voice and role in the green transition.”
Kasper Hvelplund Overgaard – Denmark CoVE Regional Captain
What the Denmark CoVE aims to achieve:
EVECSA Denmark CoVE consists of the following VET-providers: Green Academy Aarhus, Bygholm Agricultural College, Kalø Organic Agricultural College, and Asmildkloster Agricultural College as well as Aarhus University and Food & Bio Cluster Denmark.
With the aim to become a driver for climate-smart agriculture, the Denmark CoVE will empower students and farmers to act climate-smart. For this, we aim to:
- Develop strategies, methods and content to teach and equip agricultural students and farmers with the knowledge and skill sets necessary for climate-smart agriculture.
- Create a new narrative around the agricultural sector as a sector that spearheads and helps find climate-smart solutions.
- Recruit new types of young people to the agricultural sector who choose the sector to contribute to a more sustainable future.
- Foster strong partnerships and collaboration with stakeholders across the agricultural, educational, and environmental sectors to amplify our impact and drive broader systemic change.
