“Among all areas of the economy, it is agriculture that is most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Farmers today face urgent challenges: carrying out on-farm adaptation to climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It is time to change our approach to agricultural production!”

Kacper Nowak, Bogumiła Filipiak – Poland CoVE Regional Captains

What the Poland CoVE aims to achieve:

The aim of the EVECSA Poland CoVE is to encourage farmers to adapt their farms to climate change. It is important for us to make farmers and agricultural trainees aware that climate-smart agriculture also means “savings” at every step of production, eg optimal use of fertilisers, energy, water or labour.

We will focus on the management of biomass from agricultural production and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Agricultural biomass can be used to produce biogas energy. Compost from biogas plants can serve as an effective fertiliser, carbon neutral and environmentally friendly.

Such measures are beneficial climatically, economically and they also promote local energy independence and sustainability. We also want to increase the competence of teachers, students and agricultural policymakers in the region in the field of climate-smart agriculture and to conduct educational campaigns in this regard.

“When we talk to students and farmers in Denmark about the green transition, most agree that they, – and the entire agricultural sector, plays a crucial and important role. But when asked how they can act more climate-smart, many become less clear. We need to give students and farmers specific skills to work in a climate-smart way and give the entire sector a more proactive voice and role in the green transition”
